The Apple Watch Series 2 was pitched as the ultimate device for a healthy life, and indeed, the watch was absolutely packed with all the fitness and tracking capabilities the active outdoors type person could possible hope for, including 50m water resistance for swimming and built-in GPS. Already one of the best smartwatches available, how did Apple fare when they upgraded the watch to the Series 3. How can you improve upon supposed perfection? Let’s take a look with our team.

Apple Watch Series 3 – Compatibility
The Apple Watch Series 3, aka in some circles as the Apple Watch 3, GPS + LTE model requires an iPhone 6 or later with iOS 11 or later; the GPS-only model requires an iPhone 5s or later with iOS 11 or later.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Features
The really big news with the Apple Watch Series 3 is the two variants, one with GPS built in and the other—fanfare!—with LTE connectivity. The latter option gives you greater independence than ever before from your paired iPhone, in addition to the option of always-on connectivity in areas of network coverage.
The Series 3 shares your iPhone’s number, so you can say bye-bye forever to the frustrations of juggling numbers between your watch and your phone. However, even the GPS-only model is still a worthy successor to the Apple Watch Series 2.
Among its features apart from LTE and GPS are a barometric altimeter; 50m water-resistance; a heart rate sensor; accelerometer; gyroscope; ambient light sensor; Siri; and 16GB or 8GB capacity.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Display & Interface
The display is very similar to previous iterations of the Apple Watch, made of Apple’s Ion-X strengthened glass, which is particularly resistant to shock, breakage and even blemishes! The screen itself uses OLED technology is clean and vivid, and it even switches itself off to conserve battery life, requiring a flick of the wrist to reactivate the display.
Navigation through the phones various features is by means of the digital crown and the side button on the right of the watch, which displays either your favourite or recently used apps.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Design & Customization
There is not a huge amount of difference between the Series 3 and the Series 2. While it is ever so slightly thicker than its predecessor, it is still one of the most tasteful, lightweight, and slimline of all the smartwatches.
And because Apple have situated the LTE antenna behind the screen rather than inside the strap joint, there is barely any impact in comfort at all from this innovation.
There are a range of versions available, including the LTE model, that’s available in 38mm and 42mm versions, in Silver, Space Grey or Gold aluminium finishes, as well as premium stainless steel finishes for the 38mm. Then there are the Watch Edition models in white or grey ceramic. So there are lots of options available, but the premium prices would make it essential that you think carefully about your desired finish before purchase.
Straps are another matter. There is a huge range available, and these can be swapped at a later stage, so all in all, there is good news for customisation of this item.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Notifications
The Apple Watch Series 3 can send you notifications from its inbuilt suite of technology and from any of the other apps that you have downloaded for usage on the device.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Apps
There are thousands of apps available for the Apple Watch Series 3 on the App Store, but some of the best available include Sleep Cycle, Headspace, Asana Rebel, Standland, and Nike+ Running Club. It’s a really versatile platform for any app you could imagine, even news apps such as BBC News, weather apps, music and entertainment apps, and many, many more.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Battery Life & Charging
On the GPS only device, you can get more than 50 hours on a single charge. And even on the LTE device, with LTE mode activated, battery life still lasts for a respectable 24 hours-plus. LTE is great when activated if you’re the kind of person who needs to be always-on, because you’ll be able to take calls, receive social media pings and other notifications, and all without too severe impact on the battery life.
Apple Watch Series 3 – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
In terms of functionality, battery life and diversity, the Apple Watch Series 3 is probably the best smartwatch on the market today… but it very much depends on whether you’re an Apple / iOS devotee. If not, you’ll not be in love with this any more than you would, say, a Fitbit. Overall, the thing you have to consider in terms of value is whether it’s worth upgrading from the Series 2. If you want LTE connectivity so you can leave your phone behind, and stay connected while on the move or in gym, this is for you. Otherwise? It really comes down to individual preference.
|Apple Watch Series 3 - Verdict|
|Very difficult to find fault with the Apple Watch Series 3. It will depend on how badly you wish to upgrade from the Series 2. There are innovations here, but they will only be worthwhile if you truly want to be even more independent of your phone than the Series 2 would allow.|
|Apple Watch Series 3 - Pros||Apple Watch Series 3 - Cons|
|The Apple Watch Series 3 is on the basis of performance only, probably the best smartwatch on the market.||Anything negative that could possibly be said about the Series 3 is limited to questions of value, and its iOS-only compatibility.|
Due to its brilliant built-in GPS technology, the Motorola Moto 360 Sport is the best smartwatch for those who do a lot of running, trekking or hiking. It also merges seamlessly with many popular fitness apps, such as FitBit, Strava and MapMyRun. The silicone body and strap means the watch is comfortable and sweat-resistant, making it the perfect exercise device.

Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Compatibility
The Motorola Moto 360 Sport is compatible with both the Android and iOS smartphone operating systems, making it one of the best smartwatch options for accessibility.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Display & Interface
Motorola refers to the display of the Motorola Moto 360 Sport as its AnyLight display. What this means is that while the watch is in use in regular light, it looks like a standard LCD display. However, when the user is in very bright light, or when the watch is not tracking and simply displaying time, it will switch to a transflective style.
Therefore, this is watch that can be read easily at any time in any light, indoors or outdoors. This has an LCD touchscreen navigation system, and has button-free voice navigation as well. You’ll also be able to choose between sporty and more conventional watch faces.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Design & Customization
The Motorola Moto 360 Sport has an unobtrusive, minimalist design that echoes the silhouette of the classic traditional watch face.
It has a rubbery silicone strap that won’t be to everyone’s taste as it causes sweating when adjusted tightly. This is a pity, as some features of the Motorola Moto 360 Sport, the heart rate monitor, for example, require a tight fit to function properly.
However, this is an incredibly light (just 15oz) watch, that’s available in a choice of three colors, so if you are an active person who’s looking to track their fitness through a range of physical activities, there will be a color choice to suit your needs. However, the band is integrated into the case so be certain of your color preference before committing to a purchase.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Features
You’ll have to be careful if you’re looking for a smartwatch that is waterproof, because while it’s claimed that the Motorola Moto 360 Sport is water-resistant to a depth of three feet, some customers have complained that the device has stopped working when exposed to rain or shower water.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Notifications
The Motorola Moto 360 Sport also has wi-fi, meaning you’ll be able to recieve notifications even when out of range of your phone. The notifications, along with the tracking of your workouts, runs and walks, are among the chief attractions of the Motorola Moto 360 Sport.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Apps
The pre-installed Moto Body Running app allows you to choose between indoors and outdoors running and customizable distance and calorie goals. The watch will also track your heart rate and split times.
This data is transmitted to the Moto Body app on your phone, where you can check out your overall data and trends. Very nifty. GPS tracking accuracy is pretty good for total distances, steps and speed data.
Don’t depend on this watch to deliver an accurate heart rate, because we have found, in tandem with other users, that it’s really only close to accurate when you’re resting.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Battery Life & Charging
The Moto 360 Sport has a 300mAh battery, and needs to be charged every day. Battery life falls far short of the two days that other Android Wear watches can manage. With the Motorola Moto 360 Sport, you will get about a day’s use from a single charge if you are mapping your runs, for example. If not mapping, you’ll maybe get just over a day.
GPS is a big drain on battery power, and limits the watch’s effective use to middle-distance runners. With GPS activated, the Motorola Moto 360 Sport will last for approximately four hours. This will never suit more serious runners, nor will cyclists or distance walkers be interested.
Motorola Moto 360 Sport – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
On balance, the things that are positive about this watch are what earns its right to be on a list of the best smart watch devices of 2020. It’s incredibly accurate, with a very good screen for indoor and outdoor usage. On the downside, the build quality is not as high as some would like, while battery life is definitely a disappointment. All in all, a bit of a mixed bag.
|Motorola Moto 360 Sport - Verdict|
|Ideal for people who are already active in running, trekking, hiking and other outdoor activities (with the exception of swimming!), the Motorola Moto 360 Sport is compatible with a range of popular fitness apps, such as FitBit, Strava and MapMyRun. The style of the watch will not be to everyone's taste, however, and battery life is not as powerful as might be expected at this price point.|
|Motorola Moto 360 Sport - Pros||Motorola Moto 360 Sport - Cons|
|The tracking accuracy of this smartwatch is its chief strength, and for a contemporary sports watch it has a versatile face that will make it look good—and usable—anywhere.||The silicone strap will not be to everyone's taste. It feels a little cheap and cheerful, and tends to make the wearer sweat. Also, battery life is a big disappointment.|
If you’re a rugged outdoors type and you’re looking for the best smartwatch to be evert bit as tough and hardwearing as you are, the Casio Smart Outdoor Watch may be for you. Although some may find the bulky exterior off-putting, this adds to the watch’s rugged charm. With special features for trekking, fishing and cycling, this watch is for the truly outdoorsy.

Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Compatibility
This smartwatch is compatible with Android Wear, smartphones with Android 4.3 or later, and iPhone 5 or later with iOS 8.2 or subsequent. However, the functionality when connected to iOS devices is limited.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Display & Interface
The user interface of the WSD-F10 has three push-buttons; one for apps, one for function and one for tools. The App button takes you swiftly to the app of your choice, Function powers the display on and off, and Tool will activate any Casio-specific features of the device, such as compasses, altitude, or barometer for example. There is also a convenient activity graph that color-codes your activities, in which you can display steps taken, calories burned, distances travelled, etc.
The dual-layer display structure of the device enables you to switch between a color LCD screen and a monochrome LCD display in order to save battery life.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Design & Customization
Very much catering to the male market, this is, in smartwatch terms, absolutely massive, Rugged and chunky, it’s also pretty light (just 3.6oz).
While you can’t customise the physical watch or strap after purchase, it is possible to customize the face to quite an extent using the Android Wear phone app, and as noted above, there are options to go for a color or monochrome screen to conserve battery life.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Features
The Casio Smart WSD-F10 has a plethora of activity modes that encourage you to make use of the watch in a wide variety of circumstances. When activated, sensors are triggered to capture data that is based on the chosen activity. So, in cycling mode, the watch will gather data on distance covered and travelling speed. And for fishing, the watch will record atmospheric pressure as well as information on the tides in order to tell you the best cast-off time.
The downside here is that what you get is pre-set to certain parameters—you cannot customise what you’re given. And the screen is a little bit tight for comfortable reading of all the data. However, if you know what you’re looking for, it’s beyond doubt that this information is definitely useful.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Notifications
If you want notifications, you’ve got ’em with the Castio Smart WSD-F10. As noted above, however, sometimes there is a little bit too information for the display space. And some users have questioned the irony of a watch that delivers so many notifications to a device intended for use in the great outdoors. However, there is no doubt that much of the information that can be delivered to this watch in the form of notifications, will definitely be useful to the specific activity.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Apps
Casio’s Moment Setter+ app is a bit on the weak side—it’s glitchy and needs to be finalised, although that doesn’t really matter as the watch face designs actually on the watch are much better. We found that some of the sub dials on these various faces can be used to provide a host of additional information to the user.
There is a selection of outdoors apps pre-loaded on the watch, including MyRadar, RunKeeper, and ViewRanger, for instance.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Battery Life & Charging
Used moderately, you’ll get about a day and a half on one single charge of the Casio Smart WSD-F10. This is a little bit disappointing, given the size of the devices. However, when Android Wear deactivates when the battery is at zero percent, the watch will display time only on the monochrome display until that expires as well, after about another day. The charging cable is perhaps the biggest disappointment with the Casio Smart WSD-F10. It’s very short, and the magnetic catch on the connector is terribly weak and easily disconnected from the power source.
Casio Smart WSD-F10 – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
This is a heftily priced smartwatch, and whether you regard it as value for money will probably depend on the extent and variety of the outdoor activities in which you’re engaged. Battery life too may be an issue that impinges on return for investment, if you want to use the watch for long-distance, long-duration activities such as mountaineering. It’s one of the best smartwatch options of 2020, but its appeal may be limited, we feel.
|Casio Smart WSD-F10 - Verdict|
|Resembling the company's G-Shock Watches, the Casio WSD-F10 is a blend of traditional and ultra modern aimed at all outdoors types, from athletes to fishermen.|
|Casio Smart WSD-F10 - Pros||Casio Smart WSD-F10 - Cons|
|For the outdoor user, the Casio Smart Outdoor FS10 boats a robust, rugged design; an effective & legible screen; and a smart three-button design.||It's a little expensive, too bulky for all-purpose wear, lacks GPs, battery life is disappointing, and the charging cable is fiddly and proprietary.|
The Samsung Gear S2 is one of the best smartwatch options for outdoor use. It’s rugged and funky, and provides quick access to all your apps and widgets, as well as notifications, helping you to easily track your fitness levels and sports scores. The Gear S2 is compatible with iOS and Android devices, enabling you to get the most out of every moment of the day.
Number of Customer Ratings: 2,720
Average Rating: 4 out of 5 stars
Samsung Gear S2 – Compatibility
The Samsung Gear S2 is compatible with most Android and iOS smartphones, but the Tizen operating system of the watch itself lacks support from Google.
Samsung Gear S2 – Display & Interface
The display and interface are the major talking points of the Samsung Gear S2. This chunky and well made smartwatch comes with a rotating navigation bezel, providing the user with quick, convenient access to all notifications, apps and widgets.
It has a 360 x 360 pixel touchscreen from maximum clarity of a smart watch at this side, offering incredibly sharp image and text definition.
There are also Back and Home buttons included on the side of the watch, both of which will wake the screen from sleep mode; Back enables you to step back through apps used, while Home makes short work of Android Wear’s sometimes lengthy and labyrinthine pathways to simple functions such as power-off.
Samsung Gear S2 – Design & Customization
The watch case is made of highly durable stainless steel and scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass. The materials and build quality ensures longevity for day to day use, and the watch is also resistant to sweat, dust and water, so you’ll be able to wear it for workouts, without fear of any harm coming to the device.
A high degree of customization means that you’ll be able to get a face for your Samsung Gear S2 that will look good in any circumstances. In addition, this watch is also supplied with large and small bands to cater for different sized wrists.
Samsung Gear S2 – Features
Integral features such as the S Health app enables you to track dietary factors, such as your intake of calories, water and caffeine. There is also an accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer and heart rate monitor that collectively track the full gamut of your physical activity. Notifications can also be set to remind you to get going once you have been inactive for too long.
Samsung Gear S2 – Notifications
You’ll be able to get the full range of calendar notifications, text messages and news alerts from your phone right to the Samsung Gear S2 on your wrist.
Samsung Gear S2 – Apps
Samsung’s own Tizen operating system is the weak link on the Samsung Gear S2. It’s not bad, but it is not supported by Google. On the upside, the number of third party apps that will function on this smartwatch run literally into the thousands!
Samsung Gear S2 – Battery Life & Charging
Charging of the Samsung Gear S2 couldn’t be easier. Just pop it into the supplied charging dock for wireless charging. Battery life on a full charge is an outstanding two to three days
Samsung Gear S2 – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
This is great value for money, but it is prevented from being crowned the best smartwatch of 2020 by the fact that it runs on Tizen rather than Android Wear is a bit of a setback. But in the overall, this has to be one of the best value for money smartwatches available.
|Samsung Gear S2 - Verdict|
|An outstanding design and crisp, clear display, in addition to a user-interface that is at the very leading edge of industry standards, makes the Samsung Gear S2 a great choice for the average person shopping for a reliable smartwatch.|
|Samsung Gear S2 - Pros||Samsung Gear S2 - Cons|
|This smartwatch could not be easier to use, it has a highly customisable range of faces making it suitable for use in any circumstances, supports thousands of third party apps and the battery life is phenomenal for a device at this price point.||Tizen is still not not the strongest operating system, but it is this smarwatch's only real weakness. Android Wear would have been a better choice, and some reviewers have even stated a preference for Google's operating system.|
This is a 24-7 wearable phenomenon from Fitbit, enabling you to track you activities throughout the day, as well as monitoring your heartrate through your waking and sleep stages. The Versa is made to help you not only reach health and fitness goals, but also run an organised, productive day, using notifications, apps and music. Best of all for many will be its phenomenal four-plus days of battery life.
Number of Customer Ratings: 2,836
Average Rating: 3.8 out of 5 stars
Fitbit Versa – Compatibility
The Fitbit Versa will work with both the iOS and Android operating systems.
Fitbit Versa – Display & Interface
This has a large, clear display and with an extremely responsive touchscreen user interface. There are also three buttons on the side of the face for music controls, notification, exercise times and alarms. You will also be able to customise these buttons in a variety of click and press-and-hold combinations.
Fitbit Versa – Design & Customization
This is a very compact and lightweight smartwatch and fitness tracker. In fact, it’s probably the best blend of ‘smartwatch’ and ‘fitness tracker’ available on the market today. And even more specifically, it is an ideal meeting house between the Apple Watch and the pioneering Pebble smartwatch provider acquired by Fitbit in 2016.
It is also fully water-resistant, so will track your steps and other factors through a broad range of activities, including swimming. The Versa is also incredibly comfortable and lightweight, despite what you might think on first viewing.
In terms of customization, there are numerous watch faces to choose from, but they quality of these is still rather variable.
Fitbit Versa – Features
While it lacks built-in GPS and cellular options, the Versa scores highly on its focus on the fundamentals. Fitbit’s on-watch operating system is pretty wonderful, with a swipe-up access to the the fitness tracking stats dashboard, which contains weekly progress data as well as workouts and resting heart rate.
Fitbit Versa – Notifications
The notifications you can get on the Versa smartwatch actually make it a rather indispensable companion to your daily routine, as well as a reliable monitor of your sleeping routine and all-round 24/7 health.
Fitbit Versa – Apps
There are more than 50 apps available within the Fitbit app, so you’ll be able to find apps to cover a decently broad range of requirements in your daily living. It will be welcome to see this stable of apps expand over the coming months, however.
Fitbit Versa – Battery Life & Charging
Although the manufacturer claims that the watch can last for more than four days on a single charge, we have been unable to get more than three out of it. This is still pretty good compared to some of the other smartwatches in this review.
Fitbit Versa – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
Although there are shortcomings with the Fitbit Versa, we really liked this product. It’s particularly suitable for someone who is shopping for a smartwatch for the very first time. If Apple Watch is too complex for you, then this is an ideal substitute, that is strong on the fundamentals, albeit light on the impressive bells and whistles.
|Fitbit Versa - Verdict|
|This is an excellent choice if you're looking for a smartwatch that is good for everyday life, that has sufficient 'smarts' and better than average fitness tracking capabilities.
|Fitbit Versa - Pros||Fitbit Versa - Cons|
|Compact and lightweight, the Fitbit Versa is a really good blend of smartwatch and fitness tracker that is compatible with both iOS and Android.||Battery life might be a little weak for seasoned smartwatch users, as will the lack of GPS and limitations on availability of apps and watch faces at this point.
It would be easy to dismiss the Guess Connect Smartwatch as more fashion than function, but it delivers a host of great features such as voice command, camera control, find my phone, custom vibrations and tap glass. With both male and female models available and a huge selection of colours and finishes, Guess offer something for everyone.
Number of Customer Ratings: 5
Average Rating: 3.4 out of 5 stars
Guess Connect – Compatibility
The Guess Connect Smartwatch is compatible with both the iOS and Android smartphone operating systems.
Guess Connect – Display & Interface
The display of the Guess Connect Smartwatch is a wonderfully seamless blend of tasteful analog timekeeping with all the convenience of an innovative, contemporary smartwatch and tracking device.
At first glance, this looks like any of Guess’s traditional wristwatches. It has a bezel and a crown on the size for control of the physical hands of the watch. But there is also a small digital display on the lower half of the face for processing incoming calls, texts, emails and any other notification from your smartphone.
The software also enables you to control Siri, Google Now and Alexa. While the idea of the dual display in theory is good, it does not offer any of the health tracking functionality that is so central to smartwatches nowadays. Neither is it waterproof at all, and so it’s not suitable for high intensity exercise.
So while the display might at first seem attractive as a halfway house between the traditional timepiece and the modern smartwatch, it’s important that customers understand that this creates significant limitations in comparison with other smartwatch models.
Guess Connect – Design & Customization
As noted, the watch looks good, but it is rather bulky and thick—approximately 16mm, which is quite a sizeable bulk on the wrist
Guess Connect – Features
While there is definitely smart functionality with this watch, the features are limited. This is because of the tiny LCD display, which cannot provide much by way of information. If you frequently use Siri, Google Now or Alexa, or other voice recognition platforms that enable you to make calls, send messages or perform Internet searches, this may well appeal to you.
Control of your phone’s audio is a little bit more difficult than most people would like, and Bluetooth connection is also inclined to drop quite a bit too. The lack of health tracking, even something basic like step counting, is a definite weakness, and there is also no storage whatsoever.
Guess Connect – Notifications
Notification are what makes this watch reasonably attractive if you’re the kind of person who processes a lot of notifications in the course of your daily life, and don’t want always to take your phone out of your pocket to do so.
Guess Connect – Apps
The Guess Connect App is as good as you could expect for a smartwatch with the limitations of the Guess Connect. Credit must be given however, to an app that is very simple to use, and which allows you to customize which apps to send notifications to the watch, right down to distinctive vibration patterns for specific apps.
Guess Connect – Battery Life & Charging
Guess claims that it’s possible to get up to five days of usage from this watch on a single charge, and we would say this is about right. That was certainly the case when we used it only for processing incoming notifications. It would be nice, however, if there was a little bit more ‘juice’ available, given the tiny size of the digital screen.
Guess Connect – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
At the end of the day, the value of this watch as a smartwatch will depend on how much you value you the appearance of a classy traditional timepiece. While this is still one of the better watches available, it is a little bit compromised for its own good, either as a traditional wristwatch or as a smartwatch.
|Guess Connect - Verdict|
|This is an elegant looking watch that seems to offer an ideal compromise by incorporating elements of the smartwatch. In the final analysis, each element falls a little short and compromises rather than enhances the other.|
|Guess Connect - Pros||Guess Connect - Cons|
|The elegant face and display of this watch is its best feature, while its app makes it very easy to customize notifications to your desired settings.||Likely to be too bulky for most people's tastes, there is no water-proofing, and the lack of any health tracking functionality is rather a drawback.|
This goes beyond a mere ‘smartwatch’—it is marketed by Ticwatch as a fully fledged personal assistant, compatible with iOS, Android and Google Assistant. The manufacturer claims it can do everything from offering you favourite apps to coaching you to the perfect golf swing; from streaming music and fitness tracking to exploring a new neighborhood. Is this the dawn of a new generation in smartwatches? Let’s take a closer look.

Ticwatch E – Compatibility
The Ticwatch is is compatible with iOS and the Android smartphone operating systems.
Ticwatch E – Display & Interface
The display of the Ticwatch E is one of its most noteworthy aspects, with a 1.4in OLED display that provides a very clear 400 x 400 resolution.
The interface is via a button on the crown of the watch to call up the list of installed apps, or via Google Assistant, which can help with a variety of texts, including search, texting or giving you information about the weather and other detail local to the wearer. The rotating crown allows the user to scroll through the interface options, and the optical heart rate sensor sits in the back of the watch, as do the charging pins for the watch’s charger.
With 512MB or RAM and 4GB of storage, there’s plenty of room for native apps and music, which you’ll be able to listen to using Bluetooth headphones.
Ticwatch E – Design & Customization
This Android Wear smartwatch is not the most sophisticated design in the world, but it is incredibly slick and functional. It is aimed at people that are not particularly fussy about design aesthetics, but want the product to do what it’s supposed to do. From an aesthetics point of view, it is unobtrusive and we have to commend the manufacturer for resisting the urge to provide steel or leather notes in the design.
Ticwatch E – Features
This watch is incredibly fast and efficient when shifting through the various gears of its sundry features. With its integral heart-rate sensor and built-in GPS, this smartwatch can track all your vitals and track your routes, as well as keeping an eye on steps, calories burned and duration. The built-in GPS is particularly good for casual joggers, and it’s also very good at keeping an eye on your resting rates. Water resistance is effective too
Ticwatch E – Notifications
We liked the rather intuitive aspect to the notifications on the Ticwatch E. With your customized watch face displaying important information like the time, weather or steps, the notifications are stacked up below, giving you options to respond, dismiss or launch on your smartphone for processing.
Ticwatch E – Apps
There are countless apps available for the Ticwatch E to complement the pre-loaded features that make this such a standout among the best smartwatches of 2020.
Ticwatch E – Battery Life & Charging
The proprietary charger supplied with the Ticwatch E can bring you to full charge in less than an hour, although the manufacturer’s claim of a duration of more than two days will very much depend on usage. If you opt for an always-on display, you’ll deplete more than half the full power in a few hours. So, remember—deactivate always=on!
Ticwatch E – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
Given the sheer range of features available in the Ticwatch E, the asking price seems very reasonable indeed.
|Ticwatch E - Verdict|
|This smartwatch may not be advanced enough to expert-level smartwatch users, but it's certainly a bargain for more casual wearers.|
|Ticwatch E - Pros||Ticwatch E - Cons|
|The Ticwatch E is absolutely jam-packed with desirable features, such as the built-in GPS and heart rate sensor, and delivers a compelling return on investment.||While our objections are cosmetic, the design might be a bit simplistic for everyone's taste, and the charging method is a bit on the clunky side as well.|
Fitbit has long dominated the fitness tracker market, and this smartwatch doesn’t let up on its fitness tracker preeminence. The Blaze is configured with fitness in mind, featuring a heart rate monitor, on-screen work-outs, GPS technology and all day activity and sleep tracking. It has a sleek exterior with a choice of seven interchangeable straps.
Number of Customer Ratings: 9,160
Average Rating: 3.6 out of 5 stars
Fitbit Blaze – Compatibility
The Fitbit Blaze is compatible with iOS and Android devices, and most likely Windows Phone and Windows 10 devices too.
Fitbit Blaze – Display & Interface
This was Fitbit’s first foray into a color LCD display, and it makes quite an impact. It’s bright, colorful and designed for maximum impact. The bezels around the screen are a little on the chunky side, and there is a feeling of space that has been wasted. From time to time, the screen was a bit unresponsive, but overall, it was effective.
Fitbit Blaze – Design & Customization
While it’s a little bit large and angular, this is one of the most customizable smartwatches in this reviews post, the Fitbit Blaze has a chunky stainless steel frame and a central glass component. The design is modular, so you’ll be able to swap frames as well as straps, and there is a broad range of straps available, made from a diversity of materials such as leather, stainless steel and more sporty rubberized materials.
Fitbit Blaze – Features
The Fitbit Blaze’s continuous, wrist-based PurePulse heart rate monitoring and the watch’s easy to read heart rate zones enable you to quickly check your exercise intensity during workouts.
It can track multiple training schedules, including cardio workouts, biking, cross-training, track sprints, long-distance runs, and record the data to your dashboard using SmartTrack.
GPS is a great feature that enables you to map routes and compare your run stats on pace and duration.
The silent alarm that will buzz your wrist in the morning is a great alternative to waking other members of the household if you’re an early riser, and you’ll also be able to control the music on your phone, playing tracks within Spotify, Apple Music or your phone’s particular music player.

As well as fitness tracking, the Fitbit Blaze enables you to stay connected via call, text, and calendar alerts, as well as notifications from apps such as Gmail and social media platforms like Facebook. However, it has been noted that the notifications fall short of the average smartwatch standard.
Fitbit Blaze – Apps
The Fitbit app is one of the best things about the Fitbit Blaze, mainly because of its user-friendliness. Truly, Fitbit really seem to intuitively ‘get’ what people want when they put on a smartwatch or fitness tracker. On the Blaze, the app provides a huge array of information, including steps, heart rate, distance, calories, as well as the giving the user the ability to comparatively assess their performances over daily, weekly and monthly charts.
This app also keeps you on your toes, setting you challenges that will keep you motivated, either in terms of hitting your own targets, or in competition against friends who also have the Fitbit Blaze or use the Fitbit app on another device.
Other preloaded apps include Today, Exercise, Fitstar and a sleep tracker, which will track how long you’re sleeping for every night, and monitor your restlessness minute by minute.
Separately, there is the Fitbit Coach app for more serious fitness devotees. This is a premium paid-for app, available for either a monthly or annual fee. It’s quite complex, but well worth considering if you want to have gym-standard guidance and coaching on your fitness journey, without the hefty outlay of actually joining a gym or hiring a personal trainer.
Fitbit Blaze – Battery Life & Charging
Battery life is another area where the Fitbit Blaze truly stands out, providing up to a whopping five days of battery life, far in excess of what you’ll get from most Android Wear smartwatches.
Fitbit Blaze – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
This is marketed by Fitbit as a ‘smart fitness tracker’, so it’s value to you will depend upon your definition of smartwatch. We loved it, and liked that it was priced only slightly higher than the Charge, Flex or Surge fitness trackers, but the question of value is likely to be highly subjective.
|Fitbit Blaze - Verdict|
|This is probably the best fitness tracker in the Fitbit stable, and possibly the best fitness tracker period. It's comprehensive, user friendly, and there is no messing around with setting up workouts. Thanks to apps like Fitstar, you're straight into the thick of it, out of the box!|
|Fitbit Blaze - Pros||Fitbit Blaze - Cons|
|A noble attempt at bridging the fitness tracker/smartwatch divide, it's definitely much smarter than the best fitness trackers. We also liked the case customization and the display, while the battery life is superb.||The design is very angular for some tastes, and not really practical as an accessory worn with sports coats, suits and professional clothing. It must be said t hat measured as a smartwatch, it's ever so limited.|
For those who are seeking a luxe, sophisticated image, the Frederique Constant Horological Smartwatch is one of the best smart watch options. Although the price tag is fairly hefty, the watch is from one of Geneva’s premier watchmakers, and the design reflects this. The watch comes in a range of colours and finishes.

Frederique Constant – Compatibility
This is a beautiful looking hybrid smartwatch that is compatible with both iOS and Android.
Frederique Constant – Display & Interface
The Frederique Constant will appeal if you’re not into the contemporary digital-themed minimalism of modern watches. Its 42mm rose gold-plated stainless steel casing is simply beautiful, and exudes luxury.
The ‘crown’ that would be used to adjust time is actually a button that is used to switch between the various tracking modes, or to toggle the Frederique Constant WorldTimer mode for time-checking in alternative time zones.
Frederique Constant – Design Customization
There is no customization of the case available after point of sale, although strap customization might be a possibility. However, for the most part, this is a matter of deciding on your favourite design (from a number of options available) before purchase, and then committing to it.
Frederique Constant – Features
Water resistant up to a depth of 50 metres, this smartwatch can track steps, distance and calorie burn. The watch also tracks sleep, although this is something you have to toggle manually, using the crown. It also features an inactivity alert that will vibrate the watch to notify you. And there is also a handy sleep alarm function.
Frederique Constant – Notifications
This Horological Smartwatch is probably more accurately an activity tracker as it does not receive notifications;
Frederique Constant – Apps
To get going with your smartphone, you’ll need to download the MMT-365 app to your iPhone or Android device. It’s a very easy to use app, and syncing data is also child’s play, requiring you only to press the crown on the watch. The app allows you to track your daily, weekly and monthly data for steps, calories and sleep. Other features include stopwatch and your basal metabolic rate (the calories burn while your body is at rest). All data can be backed up to the cloud, and the app also allows access to the personalised training and nutritional programs of additional app, SwissConnect Gym.
Frederique Constant – Battery Life & Charging
Battery Life and charging is simply not an issue with this smartwatch. You’ll get at least two years (25 months) out of this Frederique Constant smartwatch before a battery change is required. At that point, all you have to do is remove the screws on the back, replace the battery, replace the screws, and you’re off again for another two years.
Frederique Constant – Best Smartwatch Review – Pricing & Value
This is one of the best smartwatch options you could find, but also one of the most expensive smartwatches on the market today, but if you’re looking for an activity tracker that eschews the utilitarian chic of most smartwatches for something a little bit more classically traditional, this may be the very thing you need. On the downside for some users will be its lack of notification support, but the app is truly a winner in fitness/wellness tracking terms.

|Frederique Constant - Pros||Frederique Constant - Cons|
|One of the most beautiful smartwatches on the market, this would look good on anyone who favours stylish timepieces.||Price is an issue, putting it beyond the reach of many, and some might regard lack of notification support as a drawback.|
