Zuckerberg Facebook Account HackedLast Updated: August 26, 2013
The Facebook security team faced up to an embarrassing incident in the last two weeks which saw founder Mark Zuckerberg having his Timeline hacked. An unemployed Palestinian developer named Khalil Shreateh had unsuccessfully tried to report a bug to Facebook’s security team. The bug allowed anyone to post to a Wall even if not on an individual’s friend list. However when Khalil didn’t receive any response he decided to go one step further by exploiting the bug and leaving a personal message on Mark Zuckerbergs Wall.
Shreateh’s message read “Dear Mark Zuckerberg, first sorry for breaking your privacy and post to your wall, I had no other choice to make after all the reports I sent to Facebook team. My name is KHALIL from Palestine.” Shreateh may have expected to receive a reward under the white hat hackers program run by Facebook. The program rewards hackers who find and report bugs to the company. However Facebook claim Shreateh violated the terms of their program and refuse to pay his bounty.
