Internet of Things events (IoT) tend to be the stage for the most exciting spectacles and discussions about the future of business and technology, and the IoT Tech Expo series is no exception. The latest in this ongoing series of exhibitions devoted to all things IoT takes place in Berlin at the start of next month.
If you are not familiar with the Internet of Things events or even IoT, you soon will be. While it began as a concept of connecting any device to the Internet and to enable inter-device communication—and that includes not only smart phones but domestic appliances, wearable tech, right up to airline jet engines. It’s estimated that by 2020, there will be more than 26bn connected devices on the planet. The IoT describes the network of connected elements (devices and people), and relationships between the elements, whether between people and people, people and things, and things and things.
Obviously, this convergence has massive implications for the way we will live and work in the future, and it is at events such as the IoT Tech Expo series, that the technological developments are explored as well as associated business applications and opportunities. As such, the series is a must for any business in the tech space. There are three main events in the series. The European fixture takes place in Berlin in the Summer, ahead of the North American leg in Silicon Valley this November, and the global series finale in London next year.
