With almost 4m views, this promo for Google Search was timed for Father’s Day in India, but its underlying message bulls-eyes the emotional nerve-centre of the father-son relationship, regardless of geography or festive red-letter days.
GOOGLE India’s The Hero – A Bollywood Story, is a fantastic six-minute film about a son helping his father fulfil a life-long dream. Released to coincide with Father’s Day in mid-June, the film has been viewed almost 4m times on Google India’s YouTube page. View it above (closed-caption subtitles available).
The Hero follows a son who uses Google Search to help reconnect his retired cinema manager father with his lifelong dream of being a Bollywood movie hero, an opportunity that was denied him 40 years previously.
What is essentially a gorgeously shot advertisement for Google Search, but its virality demonstrates the power of tapping into fundamental emotions, to target a message that’s for all year round, not just for Father’s Day.
