Every aspect of life in New York seems to make the city a world leader in virtually any aspect of modern urban living. This is as true of its offices as anything in the Big Apple. Our survey of offices in the city includes some of the true standout examples of New York interior design.
1. LinkedIn, New York
First on our roundup of great New York interior design examples is LinkedIn’s office, which has the advantage of an incredible location in the Empire State Building. This incredible location does not mean the brand slacked when thinking about the interior. The office was designed to attract employees, with a fully-stocked snack bar, height adjustable desks and comfy informal meeting booths.
2.Yelp, New York
The Madison Avenue HQ of Yelp occupies over 80,000 sq. feet, providing ample room for plenty of unexpected features. The offices are divided into many little areas, while remaining relatively open plan. Staff are spoiled with in-house bars, a gaming zone and a swing, with plenty of informal seating areas providing great places for collaborative work.
3. Refinery29, New York
Refinery29’s Broadway offices are every bit as stylish and current as the magazine itself, ensuring that it cannot be overlooked in any consideration of the finest in New York interior design. The office space balances style with home-style comfort, with an edgy yet feminine colour scheme and a sitting-room like feel. Unique features include flexible meeting rooms, a games area and a bar/kitchen area.
4. Target, New York
For their New York PR and Marketing offices, Target moved away from what a supermarket chain would typically do and got creative. The sleek offices look like that of a creative agency, with only the recurring Target logo motif identifying the company. The space is comfortable not only for employees but also their dogs, as the kitchen boasts a designated area for pooches.
5. Mashable, New York
Mashable’s New York headquarters live up to the brand’s reputation of one of the most influential online media companies in the world. The clean design and great staff-friendly features make it another high-point of New York interior design. Cafe style booths provide informal work spaces, with the open plan layout and lounge areas encouraging collaboration.
6. Dropbox, New York
Dropbox’s New York office honour the 1903 landmarked building they occupy, with exposed brick and dark-framed windows overlooking the Flatiron, while incorporating every modern convenience employees could possibly need. A pantry and cafe area form the centre of the office, with a cast iron panel emblazoned with NYC forming an edgy backdrop to the reception area.
7. McCann, New York
The five storey office advertising agency McCann occupies has the same luxury one might expect from a hotel. The monochrome colour scheme and masses of white marble create an elegant atmosphere. However, this imposing environment has much more to make it a standout of New York interior design, allowing employees opportunities to relax with their own bar, games area and copious amounts of comfortable seating.
8. Stoli, New York
Russian vodka brand Stoli have perfectly balanced the opposing atmospheres of a late night bar and productive office in their New York office. An incredibly luxe hospitality area houses a classy bar and lounge, while behind the scenes staff have a functional area to work in. The decoration throughout pays tribute to the brand, with Stoli bottles lining the walls and occupying display cases.
9. Dailymotion, New York
Dailymotion’s Fifth Avenue office is another example of the distinctiveness of New York interior design, bringing a splash of colour to the workplace with fun felt-covered seating scattered throughout the space. Integration between the various teams is encouraged with plenty of common working spaces. When the stress of work becomes too much, there’s a chill out room with table tennis and foosball.
10. Red Bull, New York
For such a high-energy drink, Red Bull’s New York offices have a surprisingly calm aesthetic. Largely white and using gentle, curved lines, the design is extremely versatile, allowing employees to mold their own workplace. The one exception to the low-key decor is a violently-yellow bathroom, providing a burst of energy to the office.
